cover art: "Step Down" by Möbius StripThe record release show for Möbius Strip's new Step Down 7" is this Tuesday, July 23, at DC9. Locals Cane & The Sticks will get the music started at 8:30pm, followed by Baltimore's Friendbeast and then Möbius Strip. RSVP on Facebook if you're into that.

Each song on Step Down spotlights the voice and songwriting of a different band member, with subject matter tending toward the political. The title track takes on the influence of religion in government affairs. On the B side, "O'Dark :30" continues the band's dialogue on the targeting and surveillance of environmental activists. The closer, "Interpretation," is an angsty number about friends whose values take them in different directions.

If you can't make it to DC9 on Tuesday, support your local record store by picking up a copy of Step Down at Crooked Beat, Joint Custody, Red Onion, or Smash. You can also order the record through Dischord Direct or Say-10. Or you can go the digital route and download them.

You can catch Möbius Strip and Friendbeast together again on Friday, August 16, at Sidebar in Baltimore.
